Attractions in Johor
The best part about visiting a state for leisure purposes is that you get to explore the country to you satisfaction. To say that Johor is just a tourist attraction would be an understatement. The only way to do the state justice, in regard to its beauty would be to break down the attractions therein and find out just what makes Johor to stand out from the rest.

Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman Glass Temple
As the name suggest, this temple is decorated in glass. This is the first and only temple in the world that is decorated with glass inside and outside. The glass used in the decor is imported from Thailand and looks beautiful on sunny days, when the sky is blue, reflecting a myriad collection of lights. It would be such a loss if you visit Malaysia and not pass by this great attraction in Johor.
Legoland Malaysia
This is an amusement park, mainly for children. It has the best rollercoaster designed to provide your children with maximum fun and entertainment. Additionally, there are statues of Lego characters and a replication of different places in the world at different sites, which are sure to amuse your imagination. If your children love toon characters, this is the place to take them for total fun and amusement.
The Old Chinese Temple
They say that old is gold, and that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. The old Chinese temple is the center of culture itself. The architecture and design that was used to build it is one of a kind. You can also learn a lot about the Chinese history, sometimes just by reading on the carvings on the wall, as some are written in English. The cultural art and old but well maintained look is breathtaking. However, it is smaller in the inside, which might limit your movement, but it is all worth it.
It would be prudent of you to make sure that you do not interfere with the people praying, do not pass in front of them.
The Chinese Heritage Museum
As the name suggests, this museum provides a clear perspective of the Chinese and their history. The museum is small, but it comes with a wealth of knowledge about the Chinese’s involvement in the history of Malaysia and their contribution to its creation. The museum is a source of knowledge as it is interesting and educational.
The Pulai waterfall
The Pulai waterfall is a great place to be if you want to have small family picnic, just a get together and bonding time. It exudes a feeling of oneness with nature and relaxing atmosphere. The area is also a good destination for hiking, or if you are into less work, you can take the road and just walk. However, if you are more into adventure, you can hike through the jungle, which is not that hectic because the slope is gentle on your feet. Before you get to the top, you can take in the beauty of the city.
Grand Palace Park
This park is located close to the sea and has a beautiful green field on which the children can play. There is a small hill next to the old palace facing the sea view, which provides a breathtaking view of the sunset.
Mydin Mall
This is the place to be if you are looking for places to shop on your trip, but at good and reasonable prices. The mall provides an array of shopping options as it is big enough. Good prices and many options is a sure reason to spend the entire trip shopping. You can also have coffee and food in one of the eateries there.
Johor Art Gallery
Having a state known for a lot of shopping going on and the industrial nature of it can cause one to overlook the beauty underlying all that. People, not knowing the rich collection of art that they miss, often overlook the Johor art gallery. Those who have walked into it can attest to the fact that there are exquisite arts and masterpieces. The architectural design is marvelous at, let alone the art.
The environment is relaxing and provides a sense of tranquility when you walk in to it.
Solitary Place
This is the best place to be when you want to see what Johor has to offer when it comes to art. Most of the art displayed here has been created by artists born in Johor. The gallery ranges from paintings, sculptures and other artifacts made by these talented artists.
Pasar Malam
This is more of an open-air market. It has many stalls of food and clothes and other things that you can buy. The food sold is relatively cheap and very good, very hygienic. You can buy as many clothes as you like too, under no pressure.
Spas
Do not visit Johor and leave without enjoying a full spa package. Narrowing down to one spa would be too limiting because there are up to 10 spas at your disposal. For instance, Walea Spa and Retreat has been described as probably one of the best spa in Johor. The staff is very professional, making you feel comfortable and relaxed. You need a therapy that will drive a year’s fatigue out of your body.
Johor Bahru City Square
Being just a few meters from the checkpoint, the city square is an ideal place to do your shopping. It has a variety of spas, eateries, fashion shops, sports shops and many more. It is very favorable for family shopping and items are available at bargain prices. This is where you want to be if you would like to buy souvenirs for family and friends back home.
Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque
The beautiful thing about this mosque is the architecture and design that went into building it. You know mosque designs have never disappointed, have they? It has a deep historical feeling to it in the inside and it offers a very conducive environment for praying. The building itself is quite big. However, if you are not Muslim, you might not be allowed to get inside, but you can ask whether you can take photos around it.
Angry Birds Activity Park
This, of course is perfect for children and Angry Bird fans. It is equipped with safety measures to ensure that the children are kept safe as they play. The only problem you would have is getting your children to leave the place.
